Creative Schools Week 2023 supported by The Arts Council of Ireland

A big thank you to The Arts Councils Creative Associate, artist and arts facilitator, Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher for organising two visits to Dundalk schools for Fidel Hogan Walsh and myself as part of Creative Schools Week 2023.

Dundalk, hey

Last Friday we were welcomed to the St. Louis Secondary School, Dundalk by Fergal Kilkenny to present the school with our framed piece for the schools’ permanent art collection and give a talk about our collaboration. Fidel also generously donated poetry books to the school’s English Department.

Framed together; 2020 Memories by Fidel Hogan Walsh and Blind Prophet by Julie Corcoran. Presented to St. Louis Secondary School, Dundalk for permanent display in their art collection.

On Tuesday, we were welcomed by Evan Markey of Coláiste Rís, Dundalk to give a talk to transition year students for an hour, which was a brilliant opportunity to inspire young writers and visual artists.

Scoileanna Ildánacha, Creative Schools, is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. This year, Creative Schools week focused on the theme ‘Creativity Lives Here’ (Tá Beocht na Cruthaitheachta Anseo!).

So thank you once again Orlagh, Fergal and Evan and all the students; full of creative potential!
