April Newsletter 2024

Artist Residency Extended by One Month

Hard to believe there’s another month gone already. As you’ll know from previous newsletters I’m artist in residence at Creative Spark which has given me loads of opportunities to develop and grow as an artist. Initially, I was awarded a two month residency which was due to end this week but I was delighted to get the news that I have a one month extension which means I’ll be here, at Creative Spark until the end of May.

So what did I get up to in April?

Silkscreen Prints available now in my shop

The start of April was filled with screen printing on top of mono-prints and playing with finishing touches like pastels and the application of gold foil.

Late night at the studio.

SolArt Gallery, Dublin

Her Eggcellency in the front window of Solart Gallery, Dublin is probably one of my highlights of the year. I also got a chance to visit the Derry Film & Video club exhibition at IMMA which is very powerful.

Her Eggcellency sits in the SolArt Gallery window at the start of April 2024.

PhotoSpark Workshop

I’ve hosted two Photoshop workshops during my residency so far. My next workshop will take place on Wednesday, 15th May. Booking link will be available soon.

I hosted another Photoshop workshop as part of my artist residency this month at Creative Spark. I’ll have another one on Wednesday, 15th May. Booking will open shortly.

Lunchtime Photo Walk around Dundalk

We had lovely weather for our wander around the town, it was only an hour but there was lots to photograph.

There’ll be another one in May, so watch this space.

Pinhole Photography

The later half of April was spent building and shooting with a 3d printed pinhole camera with lots of help with the construction from Grainne Murphy, director of the Creative Spark Print Studio and her printer.

Needless to say I’m very happy with the photographs from my first roll of 120mm Black and White film which means I can start planning a new project for May!
