Cavan Arts Office Professional Award 2026

Cavan County Council Arts Office have provided me with an award to pursue a mentorship with Andrés Pardo from CuriosoLab. Andrés founded the CuriosoLab project to find plant-based and eco friendly ways to process film. You can find his work in the books Back to Basics volume one and two published by The Sustainable Darkroom.

I have always loved walking around Lough an Leagh (the lake of the cures) outside Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and was delighted when the community trust that looks after the area agreed to allow me to work with the local ecology to highlight how special it really is.

This morning, in preparation for my upcoming work with Andrés I made some lumens on expired photo paper and left them out on the picnic benches for members of the public to see. Do you recognise any of the plants?
