Julie Corcoran
My name is Julie Corcoran (b1978) and I live in Cavan. I’m based at Bó Studios, Dundalk and I work through the mediums of analogue and digital photography along with alternative photographic processes, low-toxic photo-chemistry and printmaking. I’m represented by ArtisAnn Gallery, Belfast, SolArt Gallery, Dublin and I’ve just completed a Professional Diploma in Digital Making accredited by National College of Art & Design and co-delivered by Creative Spark Enterprise FabLab in Dundalk.
My most recent awards include a two week darkroom residency in the Bristol Folkhouse Darkroom in January 2026 supported by Cavan Arts Office. In November 2024 I was awarded an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Bursary Award from Louth County Council Arts Office to support my art practice in darkroom photography for 2025.
This culminated in my solo exhibition, ‘It Matters’ which ran from the 7th November - 2nd December 2025 in the Downtown Hub, Clanbrassil Street, Dundalk featuring traditional silver gelatine prints alongside photographic work made with low toxic photo chemistry including a cyanotype of Brigid’s Well made on a kombucha scoby.
My recent group exhibitions include ‘Reside’ at An Táin Oct - Nov 2024 and ‘Oneiric Realms’ in February 2025. My first solo exhibition, ‘Looking for Light’, toured from Solas Gallery, Leitrim to Íontas Arts Centre, Monaghan before heading to ArtisAnn Gallery, Belfast (2021/2022).
My most recent projects include ‘Make It Photo’ workshops with Blooming Minds (Jan-March 2025). ‘Hidden Abilities’ Irish Sign Language AAEX workshops and exhibition at Droichead Arts Centre, September 2023. In 2022, the AAEX ISL workshops with An Táin and Droichead Arts Centre won the Louth Public Participation Network Cultural Award 2022.
