The Story Behind the Journey

October 19, 2018

The Two Five Ones are Dara MacGabhann and Andy Hogg based in Cavan/Monaghan. They perform both original and well loved vintage jazz classics and I was very excited to work with them on their debut album, ‘Sentimental Journey’.

Before I travelled over to Devon this summer to an amazing Moors Horror workshop with the Queen of Creative Photography, Vicki- Lea Boulter I told Dara I was going to find a steam engine somewhere, and I did, in Paignton.
I spent a lovely afternoon on the Dartmouth railway in the company of people on their own sentimental journeys. So even photographing the engine has memories for me!

Next came the design, I looked through the shots I captured of the engine at the station. The main criteria for me was finding an image with either enough space to add in Dara and Andy, or the potential to do so.

Luckily I had moved around the platform and shot the engine from different angles, both wide and close-up. This is image I decided on..
