August Newsletter - Exhibition Opening, Speakeasy Shenanigans & Hahnemühle Takeover

Taking Over the Hahnemühle Instagram Account

It’s always a little nerve-wrecking to be handed over the keys to an Instagram account for 24hrs, a lot more so when it’s the Instagram account of your favourite paper manufacturer!

But I enjoyed the challenge and it inspired me to create a new piece called, ‘Never Let Me Go’. Just as my daughter headed away again it gave me the opportunity to convey the mixed emotions of letting go, but never really letting go.

Hidden Abilities Exhibition, Droichead Arts Centre, 30th Aug - 6th Sept.

Hidden Abilities is an extraordinary exhibition that shines a spotlight on the immense talent and creativity within the deaf community. Showcasing the incredible artwork produced by members of the deaf community, this exhibition is a celebration of their hidden abilities. What makes this exhibition even more special is the collaboration with artists from the AAEX Art and Sign workshops (myself included), who skilfully facilitated the artistic process and bridged the gap between the hearing and deaf communities (helped by the wonderful sign language interpreter, Leah)

The AAEX Art & Sign Workshops, brain child of Susan Farrelly, provide a platform for the deaf artists to express themselves, creating a visually stunning showcase that is both mesmerizing and inspiring. Hidden Abilities not only challenges societal norms and stereotypes, but also empowers individuals with hidden disabilities by giving recognition and visibility to their unique artistic perspectives.

All this has been made possible with funding and support from AAEX, Creative Ireland and Droichead Arts Centre.

All Welcome

The exhibition opens 11am on Wednesday, 30th August with sign language interpreter (and light refreshments) and runs until the 6th September at Droichead Arts Centre, Stockwell Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

Speakeasy Shenanigans With The Two Five Ones!

A big thank you to Dara and Andy of The Two Five Ones for inviting me to document a very special speakeasy event. I don’t normally do event photography but I do love the challenge of capturing memories and a Two Five Ones Speakeasy is definitely a unique experience! I’m still editing shots, but here’s some of my favourites so far….
